Making beauty is easy.
Transforming function into beauty is mastery.
Forty years protecting spaces.
Then came the question.
In a small workshop in Navarre, northern Spain, Prodein has been delivering fire safety equipment for more than four decades. Extinguishers built to last, designed to save lives, retired only when regulation demands it.
CIRA begins with a question asked by Sonia Moneo, the founder's daughter, inside that family business: what if these objects, built with such precision for one purpose, could find another? Not recycled. Not repurposed in the rough, industrial sense. Transformed — into objects that carry the discipline of the original craft and the sensibility of considered design.
LAR.
Five pieces. One philosophy.
The LAR collection brings together four lighting design + catchall by Ana Andueza, ecodesigner. Each piece is shaped from a single retired extinguisher, hand-finished by master craftsmen with the discipline of an industrial process, and certified to the highest electrical and material standards. No two are alike.
Lantern
The iconic silhouette of a retired fire extinguisher reimagined as a contemporary lantern.
Lampe
Inspired by the warmth of traditional stoves, Lampe transforms industrial materials into a timeless source of light.
Lume
A contemporary lamp that brings freshness, character and personality to everyday spaces.
Lixor
A lightweight pendant lamp that appears to float, suspended between balance and transformation.
Luno
Proof that transformation can be meaningful at any scale.
Six to seven hours
of work.
For a single piece.
Every CIRA lamp is built by hand, from a retired extinguisher to a finished object. No shortcuts. The process is deliberate, traceable, and certified at every stage.
Recovery
Retired extinguishers are recovered from Prodein's network of clients across Spain. Each one carries documentation of its history: where it served, how long, and why it left service.
Disassembly and Assessment
The extinguisher is emptied, depressurised, and stripped to its steel core. The metal is inspected and assessed for reuse. Anything that cannot be safely transformed is responsibly recycled.
Transformation
The steel body is reshaped and finished by master craftsmen. Each piece receives its own treatment — textures, finishes — applied with the discipline of an industrial process and the eye of considered design.
Lighting and traceability
A certified electrical component is integrated. Every lamp is delivered with its own digital passport: a unique identifier that traces its origin, its original markings, and its materials. The piece is designed to be repaired, not replaced.
Each piece is its own object.
We don't recycle.
We transform.
To recycle is to break something down. To transform is to lift it up.
We work with steel that has already served. That has protected lives, withstood pressure, passed every safety test ever required of it. That history is not waste. It is the starting point of a different object.
We don't conceal the material's past. We honour it.
is not manufactured.
An international
distinction.
Lixor, one of the pieces from CIRA World's LAR Collection, has been shortlisted for the 2026 C-IDEA Design Awards in the Product Design category.
As part of this international recognition, the complete LAR Collection is exhibited at the Krosno Design Festival, held during Poland's Design Week, where selected designers and brands from around the world present projects that stand out for their creativity, craftsmanship and contribution to contemporary design.
The collection showcases CIRA World's approach to transformation: preserving the identity of retired fire extinguishers and giving them a new purpose through design, craftsmanship and material honesty.
To this recognition are added those received by its founder, Sonia Moneo:
